Description

Smetana Hotel (former Pachtuv Palace) is more than just a building. It is a building with stories. It has existed in the heart of one of the most significant cities in Europe since 1628. The property is a timeless place with historic figures being hosted in, such as Mozart, Casanova, Wagner and Václav Havel. House of Earl Hubert Karel Pachta from Rájov in Old Prague town belongs to a group of cultural and architectural monuments. The building was designed by the architect Jan Josef Wirchand and has stayed in its original state since 1770. The âchta family was of noble origin and had received its coat of arms from Emperor Franz Ferdinand in 1628, which can still be seen today at the head of the orginal entrance to the palace on Anenské Námestí. It is important to know that it now belongs to the monument preservation institute. Today, Smentana Hotel is one of Prague’s well-kept treasures, residing quietly for centuries as an unassuming Baroque Palace steeped in history at the bank of the Vitava River. With a prime position overlooking the iconic Charles Bridge, Smetana Hotel is located in the historical centre of Prague and boasts unique views over the famous Prague Castle.
